Building on our mission to simplify data processes, we’ve introduced a new interface for managing variables. The ultimate goal is to make variables “no code” - but we are not 100% there, yet. In this update we released a new interface  within the Toucan Studio to centralize all variable management and simulate the user context without writing a single line of code. Designed to reduce complexity, improve usability, and speed up app development, we hope our app builders enjoy the improved user experience. App building at scale has never been easier!

In parallel with our no-code variable management, we’re introducing the User Properties Interface—a unified hub that simplifies and clarifies the management of user attributes across the Toucan platform. It is a game-changer adding clarity and ease of use to the process and enabling builders to design apps that better reflect end-user experiences.

What’s Changed:

• The interface experience now includes a unified hub for user properties management.
• App builders can explicitly define user models within their tokens in the Toucan interface.
• You can also unlock the set up of default user variables to streamline app creation.
• Use the simulation feature to preview your app in different user contexts, ensuring it meets the needs of various audience segments.

How to Leverage the Release:

• Thanks to this release you can incorporate user variables into narratives, titles, tiles, and other layout elements for a more personalized and impactful user experience.
• Be sure to take the time to understand how you want to craft user properties within your token. Having a clear vision will allow you to easily leverage user properties to filter data and set up permissions.
• Don’t leave any user properties up to interpretation. Clearly define and test user attributes within the updated interface quickly and easily.
